GROUND0 2021

As a result of COVID-19 we have adapted our mode of operation to curate a new programme of residencies and events throughout 2021 called GROUND0

GROUND0 is a collaborative vehicle devised by The Guesthouse Project to experiment with and curate the awkward space left by COVID-19. G0 addresses the need to find a new way of imagining, activating and utilising The Guesthouse building by creating a community of interdisciplinary artists to work together over the duration of a year. This community will be comprised of  local artists and the artists in residence.

For 2021 we are creating new facilities for our artists which include a fully equipped broadcast unit for sound and video recordings and live streaming. We are also setting up a maker’s space which will have a digital workstation, facilitate workshops and enable the production of limited run multiples and publications.

We plan to establish a multimedia label as a means to present both experimental and ambitious Sound-, Visual-, Print- and Culinary-art works to the public. This label will exist in two forms; a digital library accessible online and as a production house for a collection of physical, limited-edition art objects. We will also programme monthly online and offsite events that will include performances, screenings, lectures and workshops as well as critical explorations of digital media.

G0 presents artists with an opportunity to collaborate, share skills and produce new work in a shared space over the duration of 2021. We are interested in artists that have both solo and interdisciplinary practice and enjoy collaborating. The programme of activity will evolve through the process of conversation between the participating artists which will be a combination of resident artists and local artists. The initiative facilitates research and experimentation and the development of collaborations that test ideas and create new approaches to artistic practice in “these strange times”.
