The Guesthouse considers participation a personal contribution to the project.

Tuesday Lunch & Sunday Lunch
Through the form of Lunches (Tuesday Lunch and Sunday Lunch) we invite or somebody volunteers to cook for thirty to twenty people and be the guest host for the day.  The thirty to twenty guests that arrive for the lunch all bring an item for the larder, thus aiding the self sustainability of the lunch itself. Both the guest host and the people who come to the lunch are participating in this social mini event.  The aim of the lunch is to introduce different practitioners (visual artists, sound artists, writers, students, teachers, lecturers, architects, performance artists etc…) to each other, the building and its possibilities.  Lunch is followed by a talk or discussion, dessert and then a performance of some shape or form.  The performances can be anything from performance students showing work from a mini residency, a screening of a short movie or a sound/noise performance.  We are constantly open to new suggestions, and some of these lunch collaborations are organized months in advance and some of them happen quite organically depending on visiting artists.  Most of the new lunches and ideas for these mini events happen at the lunches themselves when visitors decide they would like to get more involved and collaborate with others.  This is how participation becomes a contribution.

Residencies
We encourage that those staying in the residency participate in some way, in order to get the full benefit from the Guesthouse. This can take many different shapes and forms depending on the artists needs and our own timetable in the Guesthouse.  The main factor for this is to ensure that both the resident artist and the Guesthouse can exchange resources (eg. a workshop, presenting their work, an exhibition, a performance, a discussion or even cooking a lunch).  This exchange enables visiting artists to meet like minded people in the area in a very short period of time.  It also enriches the locality with fresh diversities in culture and new knowledge.

Other
The Guesthouse always has their ears open for new suggestions and different ways we can organize meetings and happenings in the building.  Mini festivals and local arts organizations sometimes use the space as a neutral meeting ground.  Their participation in the building helps us fund other projects and is another way we can share resources with a broader spectrum of people within the local community.
